Matters Arising
Christmas Raffle
Following the impromptu raffle at the December meeting, Rowland confirmed that £12 had been collected and has been contributed to the Hospice towards room use and refreshments. It was discussed that it had been great fun, and perhaps could be done 2-3 times per year.
Toilet Facilities Survey
There were no new toilet facilities to be added at today’s meeting. It was discussed that hand-washing facilities are also important and that it was possible to obtain alcohol gel through GPs on prescription if required.
A question was raised as to where a RADAR key could be obtained for access to disabled toilet. They can be obtained for £3.25 from the Petter’s Way Council Offices, or can be obtained directly from RADAR head office from £3.50 for a key and from £10.25 for a directory of all 7000 National Key Scheme toilets throughout the UK.
Travel Passport
Rowland informed the meeting that he had been able to obtain some ‘No-Waiting’ cards and ‘Travel Passports’ from Charter Healthcare, which were put on display for those that wanted them He also got some ‘Get up and Go!’ leaflets regarding travelling, which lists details of travel insurance companies who specialise in cancer patients, and those with health problems.
Patient Stories
More patient stories would be very much appreciated to add onto the web site. Maureen Raybould agreed that she would write a story based on how she is feeling at the present time (as she has forgotten how she felt when she was originally diagnosed) as she has such as positive outlook.
