Tips

Two Clothes Pegs and a Piece of  Cord
To keep your clothes clear of the stoma area when dealing with pouches try joining two clothes pegs together with a piece of cord, long enough to go round your neck and hang down to peg on each side of your clothes. In this way you secure and support your clothing in a more balanced way.
This tip came from Jackie and was published in the Colostomy Association magazine Tidings.

Reduced Water Bill
If you have an abdominal stoma and are in receipt of major social benefits or tax credits such as income support, working families tax credit or housing benefit you could qualify for Wessex Water’s Social Tariff if you pay for your water using a meter. Phone 0845 600 3 600 for more details.

Oxaliplatin Tingles
You can help to alleviate the tingling sensations triggered by exposure to extremes of temperature by wearing gloves. I used ladies white cotton gloves during the summer; in the winter I wore my leather gloves as well. A hooded ‘Parka’ and scarf wrapped around my face took care of my ears, lips and nose. I found bed socks to be a big help at night. Rowland
