Minutes of the 54th Colorectal Cancer Patient Support Group held on Friday 7 January 2011 at St Margaret’s Hospice in Yeovil

19 members attended the meeting.

Welcome                           
Rowland welcomed members to our 54th meeting and was sad to advise members of the passing of John Nile on the 29th December 2010; his funeral is at Yeovil Crematorium on Tuesday 11th January at 11.20am.
Correspondence
Letter received from Rosemary  saying she was sorry she had not been able to attend our meetings and wished us all “Seasons Greetings” for 2011. She also enclosed a donation of £20 for our Raffle Fund and hoped she would be able come along to meetings this year. Rowland sent her a card wishing her well and thanking her on behalf of all members of Colon-aid for her kind donation.

Matters Arising
Group Photo
One of the group photos taken at the last meeting has been used to produce an updated group information card that will be included in Patient Diaries. Copies of the card and photo are available for members.
Web Site
The Colon-aid web site has been updated to add the minutes of the December meeting, photos taken at the party and a new patient story from Gillian about irrigation.
Stoma Care Support Group
Julie Burton has arranged a meeting for stoma patients at the Manor Hotel, Hendford, Yeovil on Friday 21st January 2011 from 2.00pm-4.00pm. There will be a short talk relating to “Lifestyle Aspects of Having a Stoma” and some new products will be available to look at. If you would like to attend please contact the YDH Colorectal/Stoma Care Department.
Guest Speaker
Our guest speaker Dr Caroline Boulind had to postpone at short notice, however, she provided an outline of the proposed research trial so that members could provide feedback to her before 21st January 2011. Her visit to us has been rescheduled for the 11th February 2011.
