Open Forum We had a lively open forum session that covered a range of topics including views on the first TV debate by the three main party leaders and the involvement of their wives in the campaign; the right of patients to request copies of letters sent by consultants to their GP and discussion of diet. We also carried out a survey to establish the numbers of group member patients who had stomas and found that 9 have had reversals of temporary stomas, 2 never had a stoma and 7 had permanent stomas. Any Other Business Cream Tea Afternoon 2010 The date for this year’s event is confirmed as Saturday 12th June 2010. The same format as last year is proposed with a cake stall, garden produce, plants, cards, clothes rack and raffle of donated prizes. At the last meeting it was agreed that we should identify tasks that would be required and get members to volunteer to undertake them. The refreshment stand has the highest workload and 2 teams of 3 would probably be the best option to provide for breaks during the afternoon. Help is also required with collecting up the dirty plates, cups & saucers and returning them to the kitchen; the raffle; cake stand; collecting the money for the teas; etc. Volunteers at present are:- Refreshment team A: Maureen, Heather, Debra Refreshment team B: Sally, Sue Refreshment cashiers: Sue & Debra Cake stall: Elizabeth Raffle: Patricia & Jim Clearer uppers (collect and return used crocs to kitchen): Jennifer Members are invited to donate homemade cakes & biscuits for the cake stall and prizes for the raffle. Sally has spoken to Hazel about cups & saucers and will bring along 50. New members queried directions to Primrose Hill Farm and Rowland said a poster for the event with a map and directions would be sent out with the minutes Raffle Fund Balance The balance of our raffle fund was £155.58 and with today’s £30 rises to £185.58. Date and Time for Next Meeting The next meeting will be on Friday 21 May 2010 from 2.00pm-4.00pm at St Margaret’s Hospice, Yeovil.
