Minutes of the 45th Colorectal Cancer Patient Support Group held on Friday 16 April 2010 at                            St Margaret’s Hospice in Yeovil

22 members attended the meeting.                       
Apologies

Welcome                            
Rowland welcomed members to our 45th meeting and introduced Rosalind  who came along as a visitor to the group.
Correspondence
As reported at our last meeting Rowland sent an e-mail to Leicia Smuts (a Dietician at YDH) inviting her to be a guest speaker at one of our meetings. We have not had a response to our invitation as yet and Julie agreed to follow this up but pointed out that the dieticians had a very high workload.
Matters Arising
ASWCS Annual Conference 20 April 2010
The 11th ASWCS Annual Conference 2010 – Efficient and Effective Cancer Services is being held at Bristol Zoo Gardens; the Key Note Speaker was to be Professor Sir Mike Richards, National Cancer Director but he had to cancel because of the election purdah and Mrs Ruth Bridgeman, Acting National Coordinator Peer Review, National Cancer Action Team will be the key note speaker. Heather and Rowland will be attending the conference.
Bowel Cancer Awareness Afternoon 22 April 2010
Julie has arranged for a BCA Afternoon at YDH in the main entrance area from 2.00pm to 4.00pm.  Colon-aid will be supporting the event and there will be a display stand with information posters and leaflets relating to bowel cancer and our support group. Rowland & Debra will be helping Julie or Jo with the stand.
Next Meeting
Julie Burton is sending out a letter to patients with non-cancer related stomas inviting them to join us for our 21st May meeting and the Day Care rooms at St Margaret’s have been booked for them to use after their initial time with us.
Refreshment Break
Sue ran a raffle of member donated prizes during the break that raised £30 for our Raffle Fund.
Refreshment donations of £22 were passed on to St Margaret’s by Rowland.
