Matters Arising
Colorectal SSG on 9th November 2009 This meeting took place in Room 6, Level 3, Bristol Royal Hospital for Children. Stan and Heather attended the meeting and expressed their reservations about attendance at future meetings. They felt they could not contribute to the meetings because they did not have access to new patients and carers to obtain their views and experience of the care and support they received that could be fed back to the SSG. Patient questionnaires were in use in some areas but they felt that conversations with new patients by someone who had themselves had CRC might provide a better insight into the patient experience and satisfaction with the service. Annie Lanigan, Chair of the Somerset Colon Cancer Support Group said that she had overcome the problem at Musgrove Park and arrangements were now in place to obtain patient feedback. Stan and Heather will liaise with Annie to get details of the Musgrove Park arrangement before making approaches to YDH to see if it could be adopted at Yeovil. Stan and Heather agreed to continue attending the CRC SSG meetings for the time being.
