Post meeting note:-
Roger thought it might be a good idea to get members to complete the quiz at our next meeting or at our Christmas Party meeting. There are 15 questions to answer by placing a circle around the answer you believe to be true; Rowland will provide copies of the questionnaire to members.
Roger would also like members to write down their own experiences in relation to:-
(a) What was your experience with your GP when you reported the first signs of symptoms?
(b) Were you satisfied with the way your Consultant gave you your diagnosis?
(c) Would you have liked to have had the opportunity to talk to someone with experience of a similar condition? If so at what stage.
Member’s responses can be anonymous and will provide feedback to the UIG. Please pass your responses on to Roger, Heather or Stan at the next meeting; thank you.
ASWCS User Involvement Group
Stan advised that he and Heather had some reservations about the effectiveness of involvement with the wider UIG activities. They will be attending the next Colorectal SSG on the 9th November, 2009.
Granulated Sugar on Wounds
David Austin referred to a feature in the press about tribal medicine and the application of granulated sugar on wounds to dry up moisture and stop bacteria getting in. Many members were aware of this and the use of honey to help the healing process. Julie mentioned the use of dressings with a special honey impregnation.
Date and Time for Next Meeting
The next meeting will be on Friday 20 November 2009 from 2.00pm-4.00pm at St Margaret’s Hospice, Yeovil. Jim and Patricia Reynolds will not be attending due to prior commitments.

Please notify apologies for absence if you cannot attend to the Colorectal/Stoma Care Department, Level 4, Yeovil District Hospital, Higher Kingston, YEOVIL BA21 4AT in writing or alternatively by telephone on 01935 384352 or to Rowland on 01935 424771.
